Our new place

Kitchen

dining area
straight ahead is one of the bathrooms and the doors to the right lead to my bedroom.
I couldn't get a good picture of the rooms or the bathroom.

Living room, Daniel was a little worn out, as I was bringing things in he just layed there, I kept waiting for him to fall asleep, but he never did.

Sorry the pictures aren't the greatest, but here is just a idea of what our new place looks like, once we get moved in and things are put together I'll post more pics.

Speech Therapy

Daniel and his Speech Therapist Donna.
Working on oral stimulation, she has a few different techniques she would use, inside and outside the mouth, he usually was not a fan of this, but the more we did it, the more he would tolerate it.
Animal sounds!
This last week was our last session with Daniels Speech Therapist with the Kids who Count Program, with us moving we no longer will be able to have the same therapist :( I just feel so lucky that we were able to be involved in this program and get the right help for Daniel, and what made it even better is that they come to your home! We are sad to leave the Kids who Count, but excited for the transisition to the new program which will be with with Kids on the Move, lucky for us we will be able to have all the same services, just new therapist. Thanks Donna for all you have done for Daniel!

Blog Slacking!

So recently I have been terrible at keeping my blog up to date. I wish I had a really good excuse or something but in reality we have just been really busy, we move next week into our new apartment and have just been packing like crazy. But we just went by the new place and are getting way excited, its weird to think we are going from a 3 bedroom to a 2 bedroom but we have twice the amount of space. It was just nice to see the apartment without the other tenants things in it and kind of figure out where our furniture will go. Plus I'm loving the fact that we have a garage to park in, a neighboorhood to take Daniel on walks and a yard to play in! Its going to be a much more enjoyable spring, knowing I won't be cooped up inside all the time! Daniel had his follow-up from his surgery this last week, they took out the pin(its huge, as soon as I get a chance I'll post a pic of it) and took off the cast, and then put a new cast on that he will have for 2 more weeks. And then we are done, well....for now. But his foot his healing very well, and lets just say when they took the pin out of his foot I almost passed out, thanks goodness my dad came with me and held Daniel, or we could of had a very bad situation. I don't know if its because I'm pregnant and he's my little boy and I hate seeing him pain, but for some reason I just didn't do well at this appointment, so Thanks a million Dad for coming and helping me out. But as always Daniel was a trooper and just cried a little bit when they were taking the pin out and taking off his cast, but once they were done he was just back to his happy little self. As for me I'm feeling good, she is kicking like crazy, i feel like I have a little gymnast in there! I love that I can "she", doesn't that sound so much better than saying "it". Anyways I'll have more soon about my pregnancy week soon on my other blog. And for Jason, he is trying to enjoy his spring break, but I ruin all the fun with making us pack(I'm such a mean wife, ha ha). But he has been great dealing with everything and handling his pregnant wife trying to pack. But hopefully once we get this move done with and life gets back to normal, I'll be able to get back to my regular blogging again, its funny I actually miss it, I guess I'm addicted.

Going Private

So after much debate I have decided to take my blog private. I just no longer feel safe having all my family information and pictures out there for everyone and anyone to see. I still would love all of our friends and family to continue checking out our blog! I hate that it has come down to this, but after some suspicious activity on my blog I feel it is neccesary. But before I do go private I'll need your e-mail addresses so I can add you onto our blog, so we can all continue to stay in touch. So if you would like to be added please e-mail me at carrollhl@gmail.com

Also, if you have us posted on your blogs links could you please erase our last name, we would appreciate it. Thanks for understanding and we hope we can continue to stay in touch with all of our family and friends!

Its a........

So we had our ultrasound today. And drum roll please........its a healthy baby girl! Yeah I'm pretty excited right about now. And its even cute because Jason is too, he was all giddy and already putting together a list of names he likes. So for now its baby girl, but I just love that I can refer to the baby as a she now instead of a "it". Well I'll have the whole story of how my appointment went on my prego blog, hopefully soon I'll get it all posted. And Thanks Mom for coming down and being a part of this with me and helping take care of Daniel! You were such a big help!

Remembering Mike

(click on the x in white box of the song to get rid of it to see the whole picture)

Heather is the one who usually posts here but I needed to do this one, and its long overdue. I originally wanted to do this around Mike's birthday but gathering my thoughts and pictures took awhile. It has only been a couple of months since Mike's passing but he is already greatly missed. I find myself remembering him often, usually when I'm driving or just by myself. I've told Heather many times since that whenever a particular movie comes out i say, "I would have gone with Mike to see that." Songs that I hear from their wedding to the smallest things remind me of what a great friend was. He was one of my closest friends and it saddens me that to think of the times that we will miss. All my memories of Mike are good ones. Late night Wendy's runs, paintballing, gaming it up, to the intellectual and spiritual conversations we had; just hanging out with him was always fun and interesting. My words cannot describe how much I miss him and respect him. He was a great father, husband, and a fierce friend. He always made me want to be better in life and with his passing has inspired me to continue on that path as he would expect his friends to do. Mike, I love you man, you will be missed and never forgotten.(Mike and I liked this band and i have always liked this song. I dont know why but when I thought of doing this post it came to mind)

That can't taste good!

So I'm not really quite sure what started this, or how he even got the idea, but lately I have been finding Daniel crawling around with his sock in his mouth, the minute I put them on they come right off, and usually he just throws them on the floor, but lately I guess he has decided he found a better place for them. All I can say is that can't taste good, but it doesn't seem to bother him, and its not just in the house he does this, the other day I was driving and when I looked back at him he had taken his sock off again and shoved it in his mouth and was trying to holler, I couldn't do anything but just laugh. Oh the things these kids come up.

Playing to hard

So every day Daniel has "room time" basically everyday we have time set aside where I put him in his room I put the gate on the door so I can at least check on him and hear him if he really needs me. But I mostly do this for him to learn how to play by himself and that he doesn't need me every moment, and its also for my sanity as well. It is my time when I usually either get ready for the day or do my blogging stuff or just lounge and be lazy for a whole half hour. But on this day Daniel decided he had played to hard enough and was ready for a nap, he pulled his pillow out of his bed and layed it on the floor and decided he was going to lay down, it started out with him just laying there singing and talking to himself, but as time when on he grew more and more tired to when eventually he fell asleep. It seemed everytime I would check on him he would be in a different position and one step closer to being asleep. Now this is a little unusual for Daniel, he doesn't ever just fall asleep just anywhere, he is to much of a busy little guy to settle down enough. But I guess for him to pull his pillow down and lay down with it, he knew what he was doing and he had just had enough of playing. It just started out with him singing and talking to himself
Giving mom some cute smiles!
Starting to get in that daze right before he goes to sleep
Getting even more sleepy
And finally asleep.

Happy Birthday Jason!

So yesterday was Jasons 27th birthday. But sadly we weren't able to do much, on friday I came down with the flu and have basically been in bed since then. But this next weekend we decided we would go out and celebrate, so thanks babe for being such a tropper and putting up with your needy sick pregnant wife on your birthday! So with that I just hope he knows how much I love him and what an amazing father/husband I think he is. He does so much for us and I'm so proud of him and all the hard work he has put into supporting our family and going to school. Thanks for all you do and Happy Birthday!

Still no luck

Still no luck with my laptop yet, its actually quite frustrating, I would download my pictures on Jasons, but I'm afraid if I try to do to much I'll mess his up too. So I'm not taking any chances. But this last week has been busy and even more busy and then having dealing with two sick boys(but I do admit, I enjoy taking care of them). Jason has been extremely sick for about a week and it wasn't until yesterday that he finally felt some relief, and Daniel, well it seems this winter season he has been on and off sick. Whatever it is, he just can't get over it. Lucky for me I haven't had it to bad, I have had a little cough, but nothing to serious, but thank goodness, because having a cold is never fun while being pregnant. But we do have some other fun news, we're moving again. We are heading out to Eagle Mountain, just with Jasons new job being in Draper and us only having one car it just didn't make sense anymore for us to live all the way out in Spanish Fork and work in Draper. Especially with me soon to have 2 kids I just didn't feel safe having him so far away, so with the new place, we have cut the commute in half and the time driving in half, which makes it nice for me if I ever have to take him to work. We were looking at apartments in the lehi, american fork, Draper area but they were all pretty pricey, and considering Jason still wants me to be able to stay at home and not work, we started looking a little more out, and we ended up finding a great place in Eagle Mountain, its a basement apartment, but Its extremely nice, the home itself is less than 2 years old, and its in a really great neighborhood, I'll finally feel safe to take Daniel on walks! Plus we even have a garage to park in! Now thats great for us considering the entire time we have been married we have not had that luxury, so I must say I look forward to that. But as soon as I get some pictures of the new place I'll post them(that is if my laptop is working by then, I'm keeping my fingers crossed)

February 21, 2008

So I have been hoping to get some posts here, but me not being computer literate did something to mess my laptop up and so for now I have to use Jasons while he tries to figure out what I did to mess mine up, so no pictures, sorry. But hopefully soon I'll have it back up and running and finally get some pics up of Daniel and the rest of us and what we have been up to.

Daddy's Work

On the way home from the hospital Jason needed to stop by his work, so we decided to go in with him and check out the new office. Of course Daniels favorite part was spinning around in Daddy's chair. (notice the expression on Daniels face, we had recently just given him his pain medication and it was finally starting to kick in.)

Happy to be home!

Since being home this is how we have spent most of our time, lounging on the couch. He has been a little frustrated though, he looks down at his cast and hits it then looks at me like "why is this on my leg?" But the good thing is, he still is able to crawl with it(he's a little slower and a little hesitant but he has figured out how to move with it) he have even tried standing on it, but I think he's still in a little pain because everytime he does stand on it he cries, but what can you expect its only been 2 days. Considering everything is has gone through I think he is handling it very well.
Happy to being using both hands, while at the hospital he was very frustrated with the fact that he could only use one hand, he had his IV in the one hand and so he was restricted to how
much he could use it.

Daniels Surgery

February 6, 2008

All went well!

Just a quick update. Daniels surgery was successfull! He came out of surgery at about 4:00 and we were in our room by 5. He is in a lot of pain, but a real trooper! We are so proud of him! Thanks for everyones support!

Daniels Surgery

I have an update for Daniels surgery. He will be going in tomorrow (the 6th) at noon, hopefully they won't be backed up(considering he can't eat after midnight and only clear liquids until 10:30 a.m.), but his surgery will last 2 1/2 hours and he will be at Primary Childrens Medical Center, he will be spending one night at the hospital. These are never easy for me, but I'm just so grateful that we have such wonderful doctors and the technology to be able to help correct these problems for Daniel.

February 4, 2008

Practice makes perfect

We have a new walker for Daniel, and luckily for us this one seems to be having better luck. Any other one we have tried he has refused to use, but with this one he will actually walk with! (YEAH) We are trying to get as much in as we can with it this week before his surgery on Wed. At first I had to help brace it so it wouldn't move to fast for him, but now he's to the point where he can walk with it on his own, he is still a little hesitant with it, but each day he gets better.

Daniels Rocking Chair

So I just realized I never posted any pictures of Daniels Rocking chair Grandpa Carroll made for him. While Jasons parents were out for Thankgiving Grandpa Carroll spent a good amount of time making this for Daniel and it turned out great! Thanks Grandpa! Daniel loves to sit in it when we read stories together.
