Daniel's crawling!!

**********NEWS ALERT**********
So today Daniel started crawling! I can't tell you how excited i am! Jason took him in his room to play and Jason put a toy out of reach and he just went for it! I knew it was just a matter of time because the last week he has been really close, but he finally did it. He's still no pro, he'll go a few feet then drop to his tummy and then just get right back up. But I am so proud of him! We got it on video tape but I'm not sure how to put it on here yet, so hopefully I'll either get the video or at least some pictures soon.

wanna chip??

Well with us not having a kitchen table yet I have to eat my dinner on our coffee table(sadly we still don't have a table) but I left some tortilla chips on the table while I ran into the kitchen real quick and didn't think anything of it, well that is until I came back out and Daniel had grabbed them and dumped them out all over the floor and started eating them. It was just to funny, he just sat there and looked at me like.... what???? I guess I can't leave things out anymore. Its strange because I haven't gone through this yet and well I have never had to worry about leaving things out and Daniel getting into something, but I guess I better think twice now.

Playtime

Now that they are use to each other they have so much fun playing now. And I'm entertained by watching them. Its still funny because Daniel is constantly trying to hug Tessa and she is constantly pushing him away, and looking at him like you crazy boy! But I love the fact that he now has the chance to interact with someone his own age, and size. He has actually picked up quite a few things lately from her and the kids at the Daycare at the gym, he use to just cruise around the coffee table but he saw Tessa going back and forth to the couch and then to the wall, and now he's attempting it(yeah!!) He's also now a pro at sitting up on his own, its funny he'll go from sitting to all fours to his belly then back to sitting and then all over again until he gets to the toy he wants.

Sunday drive up the Canyon

He just loves his daddy!
They didn't have any of the swings that he could sit in by himself, but he still had just as much fun sitting on Jasons lap. This last Sunday we decided to take a drive up Hobble Creek Canyon and we passed by this little park area, more like a picnic area but they had swings. So we decided to get out and walk around and let Daniel play a little bit. It was just a nice way to spend the day, we got out of the house and got to spend time together! What more could I ask for! And to even top that, Jason let me sleep in that morning and took care of Daniel and then when I finally did get up (around10:30, now that hasn't happened for awhile)Jason made me breakfast, and not just any breakfast, he made me an omlet, some toast and juice! Thanks honey, its just what I needed! A great way to start the week, don't ya think.

Daniels new girlfriend???

Daniel is always trying to hug Tessa, he'll pull her in and hug her then try and give her kisses, Tessa on the other hand isn't quite sure about him.
By the end of the first week of babysitting Daniel was okay with having Tessa around, I think he enjoys having a little friend to play with.
Well they don't get the concept of sharing yet, so instead they took turn taking it from each other, as soon as she took interest in a toy, Daniel wanted it, and as soon as Daniel started playing with one, she wanted it. It was like a little game. Actually quite funny to watch.

That can't be comfortable

So i'm not sure how he's doing it, but that can't be comfortable.

20 Months old!

So I know I say this every month, but really, Daniel is now 20 months old! That's only 4 months away from being 2! That just blows me away! But a lot has happened this month for Daniel, now for most toddlers they have been doing a lot of these things for awhile now, but for Daniel its a huge step. In the year and half he's been with us he has gone through a lot and I'm just so proud of him and he just amazes me everyday! Well for starters I weighed him on my scale just out of curiosity, and he was 23.4 lbs, so he has put some weight on(yeah). He has only 5 teeth(i know crazy) but he still eats about anything, he really know how to use what he's got. As far as physically, he still is cruising and fast may I say, he doesn't dare to let go but if the couch is close enough he'll go back and forth between the two, and he's not crawling but he sort of scoots on his butt, if a toy is outta reach he'll do this move where he'll lean forward then back and scoot his bottom at the same time, I don't know quite how to explain it but its funny and well he gets what he wants, he doesn't go far, but its just enough that he can use his arms of elastic to get it(now I say that because I swear this kid has elastic arms, he'll reach out until I seriously think his arm is going to detach.) Now with his fine motor skills....ok so I say that like I'm a dr or therapist, but you get what I mean, he loves to play patty cake(and he actually does it with us now) he loves to play with toys the way they are suppose to be played with, he use to just explore and pound on them, now he actually plays with them, he's not consistent with it but he'll wave bye bye every once and awhile(mostly I think he's just being stubborn, I know he knows how to, but because we want him to he won't) and something he has just done recently and he will only do it in his bed but if I put him down for a nap or to bed and he's not ready to go down he'll just sit right up, I went in to check on him one day and he was just sitting there playing with his animals(like the picture above) but he's selective when he does it, but on the other hand at least he does it. So he has accomplished quite a bit and we are just so happy with the progress he has made! And I just can't wait to see what he shows us this month!

A new friend to play with...

This week I started babysitting this little girl Tessa. The family was in my old ward in Springville, her mom had to go back to work so she asked if I could help out. There schedules overlap a few hours so she comes over from 2-5 and well...we all get to play. At first Daniel wasn't so sure about it, he kept looking at her like why are you taking my moms attention away from me??? But he finally warmed up to her, he just didn't like the fact that when they were both at the coffee table cruising she would hang on him for balance. They both played really well and they both really love books! And I have to say it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I'm just excited that Daniel has a little friend to play with now.
just enjoying some reading.

trying to figure each other out

watching a little baby mozart

lets throw it...it was so cute they were throwing it back and forth to each other. of course I had to help a little, they would throw it across the table and it would land on the floor, then they would both look at me like well...pick it up.

We just love family time!

Isn't family time the best! I must say I love Sunday's. Not only do we get to go to church but we get to have the whole day devoted to being together as a family, without work, school or any other obligation getting in the way! We don't get to do this very often during the week so when Sunday comes, I'm just the happiest wife and mom in the world!

Grandma's magic touch

So I asked my mom to lay Daniel down for a nap, and I don't know what she did but two hours later he was still asleep, he has never taken a nap that long for me. And even after two hours passed he still was not waking up, but sadly because we had to get going, I had to wake him up, but he was still a happy boy. I guess Grandma's really do have the magic touch.

A day at the Park

We had the best time at the park. The last time I took Daniel to the park was a couple months ago when I went with my friend Jenny, it wasn't the best experience, but this time Daniel had a blast. He loved the swings, he was just screaming and laughing and just having a good ol' time. But the real test was the slide, last time it was the slide that freaked him out, so.. as long as I kept a hand on him he was just fine. He actually smiled too! But unfortunately because it is was scorching hot we weren't able to stay to long, but now I know he's not scared anymore, so next time it'll have to be in the early evening or after it starts to cool down. (if its possible! this summer is horrible, I'm ready for fall!)

Hanging outside!

He's just having a blast. While we were up visiting my parents Daniel got to spend some time outside with my dad while he did some yard work.
is he teething again or what, it seems like everything ends up in the mouth lately
this time he's chewing on the hard part of his bink.

My first time back to Trolley Square

Well its been months since the horrible Trolley Square shooting, but I haven't been able to get myself to go back, something about going back freaked me out. But this last week I went up to SLC to spend some time with my parents and as I had about two hours to spare while I waited for my mom to get off work, so I decided to just do it. I mean two of my favorite stores are there, Pottery Barn and PB kids. For me it had a different feel to it, I felt myself looking over my shoulder all the time, but I finally got over it and enjoyed my time with Daniel and doing what I love, Shopping! Then on Friday morning me and my mom were one of those crazy shoppers that woke up at the crack of dawn to go to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Whats even crazier, I was up before Daniel! Now that just isn't right! But he was a little trooper handling all these crazy women shoppers, he was just enjoying watching all the people act outta control!! Its funny how fast you can spend money and not even know it, when me and my mom got home and we were separating all our stuff out I couldn't believe it, did I really just spend that much money?? For a second I thought I should take some of this back, but that only lasted a second. So I kept it all. (hey its not very often that I get to do this) And on the other hand I came away with some great shoes, some cute jeans and some great clothes. So I guess you could call a successful shopping day.

Our new Apartment

Here is the living room, its right as you walk in the front door. We haven't quite got all of our pictures or decor up yet, but you get the idea. Oh..and these are our new couches, with Jason working at R.C. Willey we got great deal on these! I don't think I can ever buy furniture at regular price again! Boy we are spoiled with these great deals.
Our long hallway. This hallway is great for Daniel, we use his little walker down it everyday. We go down and back and once, and we do that about 3 times a day. Quite the little workout for him. But I think he likes all the space he has to explore now. And the curtains you see to the left, well that is where our washer and dryer are, but with the new ones we got the closet doors wouldn't fit, so we had to store the doors and get creative, so we ended up using curtains, it actually doesn't look that bad. Our Kitchen, nothing special although unlike our other apartment I now have a dishwasher and garbage disposal(oh the little things that make us women happy) This kitchen is a lot smaller in size, but strangely I have more space to put all my dishes and pots and pan in the apartment we are in now. Our table we had didn't fit in this kitchen so we ended up giving it away so for now were eating in the living room on the coffee table(I know its a little ghetto, but hey it works)
And I just wanted to show this. Jason got me this clock for Christmas. I love it. I just love the rustic old look.

July 10, 2007

so I have been kinda slacking lately, but I promise I have a good reason. This last week we moved into our new apartment, not a huge move, just from Springville to Spanish Fork. We have only been here a few days so far, but I'm enjoying this place a lot more, we have more space and now we have 3 bedrooms, so Jason has his office now (plus its extra storage space). Plus this apartment stays a lot cooler, we are roasting here in Utah, what's with the 100 degree weather. If I had it my way it would be in the 80's all summer and then the rest of the year can be in the 70's but this 90 - 100 degree weather is killing me! Plus poor little Daniel is just miserable with this heat, luckily we go to pool a lot, nice way to cool down, and he just loves being in the water. Oh...and the other thing about this apartment I love I finally have a dishwasher, its just a minor thing, but man I hated spending so much time doing dishes, so that has been a nice little timesaver for me. We hope your all enjoying your summer, and as soon as we get this place put together I'll post some pictures.

Happy 4th of July

Well we didn't get to do anything exciting for the 4th, unfortunately Jason had to work, but I got Daniel this little outfit to show that he is proud to be an American, and to just celebrate the 4th.

Our little dilemma

So here is the dilemma, I have been trying to get Daniel off his binky and well as you can tell, no luck yet. So I'm putting it out there to anyone with suggestions, I know its not a huge deal, but he's 19 months now and I'm hoping before he's two he'll be off it. I tried to put him to bed the other night without it and he just cried, and after about 20 minutes I gave in, I gave him his binks and within 5 minutes he was asleep. And it seems like we go through this almost every night. So any suggestions would be helpful.
(oh by the way...I took Daniel to get his haircut the other day, and well the lady misunderstood what I wanted her to do, and well....he ended up with a buzzed head! Poor boy, he's still cute though.)

Bath Time

Daniel loves bath time, on average he's usually in there about 30 min, and even then he doesn't want to get out. As you can see I had to get creative with the foam pad behind Daniel, for the last two months he's gone through this phase where he would'nt sit, everytime we tried to get him too he would throw himself back, but in just the last two days he has stopped doing it but I was still scared that he would throw himself back again so I put the foam pad behind him just in case he decided to start doing it again. But luckily he has'nt. But its better to be safe than sorry. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that he is pass this phase.

My little boy!

So I was looking at this picture and it hit me, he is no longer a baby! He is really starting to look like a little boy! And act like one too, he has developed quite the little personality, he's not talking yet, but man does he communicate in other ways(he has quite the little lungs, not from crying but he just makes all kinds of noises, and the faces he makes, its hard to not laugh because they are just so cute) but we have been working on signing with him, and right now he can let us know when he is hungry or when he wants a drink, and he will usually start putting his head down on the table when he's ready for a nap or bed(as you can tell from the picture below.) The speech therapist has been working with him as well as I have been, but when we try to get him to say some words or even just sounds he just glares at us or he'll just start laughing. We know he can say dad and I have even heard Hi and a few other sounds, but as of right now he just isn't interested in talking. But I know I just have to be patient and these things will come to him. Just like everything else has that he has accomlished. We really are so proud of him and even though things get rough now and then, I wouldn't change anything!

(by the way the boxes in the background are from us packing up, we have decided to move into a new apartment, its just a few miles down the road in Spanish Fork.)
