Our little dilemma

So here is the dilemma, I have been trying to get Daniel off his binky and well as you can tell, no luck yet. So I'm putting it out there to anyone with suggestions, I know its not a huge deal, but he's 19 months now and I'm hoping before he's two he'll be off it. I tried to put him to bed the other night without it and he just cried, and after about 20 minutes I gave in, I gave him his binks and within 5 minutes he was asleep. And it seems like we go through this almost every night. So any suggestions would be helpful.
(oh by the way...I took Daniel to get his haircut the other day, and well the lady misunderstood what I wanted her to do, and well....he ended up with a buzzed head! Poor boy, he's still cute though.)

Bath Time

Daniel loves bath time, on average he's usually in there about 30 min, and even then he doesn't want to get out. As you can see I had to get creative with the foam pad behind Daniel, for the last two months he's gone through this phase where he would'nt sit, everytime we tried to get him too he would throw himself back, but in just the last two days he has stopped doing it but I was still scared that he would throw himself back again so I put the foam pad behind him just in case he decided to start doing it again. But luckily he has'nt. But its better to be safe than sorry. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that he is pass this phase.

My little boy!

So I was looking at this picture and it hit me, he is no longer a baby! He is really starting to look like a little boy! And act like one too, he has developed quite the little personality, he's not talking yet, but man does he communicate in other ways(he has quite the little lungs, not from crying but he just makes all kinds of noises, and the faces he makes, its hard to not laugh because they are just so cute) but we have been working on signing with him, and right now he can let us know when he is hungry or when he wants a drink, and he will usually start putting his head down on the table when he's ready for a nap or bed(as you can tell from the picture below.) The speech therapist has been working with him as well as I have been, but when we try to get him to say some words or even just sounds he just glares at us or he'll just start laughing. We know he can say dad and I have even heard Hi and a few other sounds, but as of right now he just isn't interested in talking. But I know I just have to be patient and these things will come to him. Just like everything else has that he has accomlished. We really are so proud of him and even though things get rough now and then, I wouldn't change anything!

(by the way the boxes in the background are from us packing up, we have decided to move into a new apartment, its just a few miles down the road in Spanish Fork.)

19 Months Old!!

I can hardly believe it! Daniel is already 19 months old!
How time is flying by. But were enjoying every moment of it.
Daniel is still between about 21 & 22 lbs and is getting taller by
the minute! But even as much as he loves food he just can't put
any weight on, but hey I say he just burns it all off playing as hard
as he does. Right now Daniel loves playing with balls and the
remote controls, and when he gets his hands on it he loves my cell
phone. He has become a little pro cruiser and continues to show
us how strong he is. He hasn't attempted to let go of anything while
cruising but I'm sure its just a matter of time. But he is still just the
happiest little boy and is constantly getting stronger!(the best
part for me is seeing him accomplish all he has, I won't say it hasn't
been stressfull, but I will say it has all been worth it!)

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day Jason and Dad!
We spent Father's Day at my parents house but that morning it was just me and Jason hanging out then that afternoon we went to pick up Daniel at my parents house, and we got to hang out down there for awhile. We just watched movies, had a great dinner, including some great brownies for desert, and then as you can see the boys took advantage of this day and just lounged! (which they deserved) We hope all you Dads out there had a great Father's Day!

Weekend with Grandma & Grandpa

So the last time I was with my friend Viv she was telling me how great it was to have a weekend with just her and Randy, so I decided to take her advice and have a weekend with just me and Jason. So Daniel got to spend the weekend with Grandma & Grandpa Goins, while Jason and I got to have a date night. Daniel had so much fun, he got to go swimming and he also got to go see his Great Grandma Sorenson(who just loves him!) Plus I think he loved all the attention he was getting from them! On the other hand, Jason and I went and saw Fantastic Four: Rise of the silver and surfer, then we went to dinner at Tepanyaki(a great Japanese steakhouse). As much as we missed our little guy, it was so much fun to spend some time as a couple and do things we can't normally do with Daniel. The big shocker was waking up Sunday morning and not having a little one to take care of, we actually got to sleep in! Then later that afternoon we went to pick up Daniel at my parents house, with it being Father's Day we got to hang out up there for awhile and have dinner, and all spend time together. Then it was back to Springville, and back to our normal routine. But Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for taking care of our little guy! It was a much need weekend for Mom and Dad!

Nap time

So not only did Jason think it was nap time for Daniel but it was nap time for Daddy too.(hey when do I get my nap??) I know, i bet every child has a picture like this, but when I walked in the room and saw this, it was just to cute!! I guess Jason just has the magic touch, because I can never get Daniel to sleep like this.

Our little Morning Boy!

So we are not quite sure how to break him of it (j/k) but no matter how much we try Daniel is like clock work, come 7:00 a.m. he is up and ready to play, whether he is in bed at 7:30 or 9:00 p.m. he is up and ready to go! And as you can tell Jason is not the morning boy! When I come home from the gym in the morning this is usually what I find, Daniel playing and Daddy sleeping on the couch, or at least trying too.

Are they cute or what!

This last friday my good friends Meredith and Viv and her cutie little boy Britton got to come down, we celebrated my birthday and did our traditional lunch at the Olive Garden! It hard to believe we have been doing this for almost 9 years! We still talk about the days when we were in High School and we would ditch class to go to the Olive Garden or just go because and get the best desert in the world! We can't go as often anymore but, we still try to go for birthdays or pretty much and other reason we can come up with! But I sure do miss them! So it was such a treat to have them come down!

18 Months (and such a messy boy!)

Its hard to believe he is already 18 months old, we took him to the Doctor this week and and he is now 21 lbs and just over 30 inches long! He is still on the small side for his age, but boy does he eat! Daniel is now cruising all over the place, once he gets a hold of something, he is on the move! Still no interest in crawling, but we are still working on it. We are just so excited with all the progress he has made! Now that he is 18 months we got to take him to the nursery for the first time! Jason and I almost didn't know what to do with ourselves, but Daniel did really well, I actually don't think he even noticed we were gone, he didn't cry or anything!
(Can you believe those teeth, poor little guy, he just hasn't gotten a break from teehing, he got his first one at 15 months and it seems after one breaks through he has another just about too!)

This is a new face Daniel has been making, one day I was whistling at him and this was the face he made, it was as if he was trying to mimic me, but he gets his whole face into it,(so cute!!)

Grandma and Grandpa's House

Some last minute time with Grandma before we head back to Utah!
Were going to miss you Grandma and Grandpa!

We went to Fun Land to play some mini golf and Daniel played in the arcade area. He loved the bat mobile but when we tried to put him on some of the others he got scared.

Thanks Grandpa for the swing! Daniel loved the swing, now if only we could have one in Utah.

Daniel had so much fun at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Grandpa set up a swing for him, which he just loved, and he also had fun swinging in the hammock. Plus they had a great toy for Daniel to play with standing, so even on vacation we were working on him getting stronger!

Busch Gardens

Daniel and Grandma burned out from a long day at Busch Gardens

Grandma Carroll, Jason, Heather and Daniel in front of Governor's Green in Williamsburg

Daniel got to ride the Carousel! He had so much fun! Here we all are at Busch Gardens.

Jason and I had some time to go off and ride some rides while Grandma and Grandpa watched Daniel.
Daniel with Grandma and Grandpa Carroll

We all got to go down to Williamsburg to go to Busch Gardens, it ended up raining on us but we all still had a lot of fun, we were hoping Daniel would be able to go on a few of the kids rides but with him not walking yet he was'nt able too, but hey he just enjoyed having everyones attention!

The White House

This last week we had the chance to go back to Virginia to visit Jasons family. Out of the year and a half I lived there I really never got to see the city, so we decided to take a day and go up and do the tourist thing, we walked the National Mall, saw the White House, and was able to walk through some museums. We also got to see the Pentagon, Jason's dad works there so we were able to get a tour(sorry no pictures, security is really tight), we also got to see the 9/11 memorial, they have it on the side where the Pentagon was actually hit.
